Teach Yoga Adelaide 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training takes our students on a journey of self discovery within the framework of yoga, in all of its glorious manifestations. Students gain a deeper understanding of themselves and start to awaken a new level of consciousness and awareness. This can sometimes be challenging but the rewards are transformational and set the foundation for continued discovery.
This yoga teacher training is led by Stewart Heffernan who will share his wealth of knowledge, practice and experience in yoga, meditation, healing and personal development. Along with other experienced facilitators, Stewart is committed to supporting you through every step of this training to enable you to live more fully and to teach from a place that is embodied and feels authentic.

What will I learn on this yoga teacher training?
Techniques, training and practice
Learn how to confidently teach and practice Asana, Pranayama, Kriya, Chanting, Mantra and Meditation as well as modifications for injuries and posture adjustments or assists.
Teaching hands on assists
Learn how to give hands on assists. You will learn how to safely and confidently assist different bodies throughout a yoga asana practice, enabling you to become a confident and skilled yoga teacher.
Yoga teacher methodology
Explore the principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/adjusting, instruction, teaching styles, sequencing classes, the ethics and qualities of a teacher, the students process of learning and the business of setting up as a yoga teacher. You will learn a complete sequence suitable to teach in many environments from corporate classes, privates and gyms to hot studios and of course non – hot studios too.
Anatomy and physiology
Study practical anatomy and physiology and delve into the energetic concepts of the Subtle Body such as Chakras and Nadis. Learn the practical application of these systems with the benefits as well as the contraindications of postures for injuries and different students, with options for modifications.
Basic history and philosophy of yoga
Review classical texts, Yoga Sutras and Sanskrit, yoga philosophies and how to integrate this into intelligent yoga classes.
Ethical guidelines for a yoga teacher
Learn the modern applications of a yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers.

What type of yoga will I learn to teach?
The practice of all physical yoga, comes under the banner of ‘Hatha’ Yoga.
This yoga teacher training will enable you to skilfully teach Vinyasa Yoga, with influences from the Jivamukti Method.
What makes the Teach Yoga Adelaide Teacher Training so special?
Our 200 hour Teach Yoga Adelaide Teacher Training takes place in magical Bali, for 1 week with further yoga teacher training back in Adelaide broken down into 5 seperate modules to allow for integration, study and practice time. We take pride in our inclusive, non-dogmatic and fun approach to study and yoga.
Our 200 hour course will cover 22 days, totalling 180 contact hours and a minimum of 30 non-contact hours by the way of assignments plus on-going self study.
What about accommodation, food and travel?
The Weekend Modules will be non-catered – students are responsible for their own accommodation, food and travel to and from the Studio.
All your accommodation and food is included in the price of the Week Immersion. Students are responsible for their own flights and transfers to and from the venue. We can help with any questions you may have about this.
Will I have a roommate on the Week Immersion?
Yes, the accommodation in Bali is shared, twin room with an ensuite bathroom. We aim to match our students well so that you both have the best experience possible and you can create a good support network amongst yourselves.
What are the hours of the yoga teacher training?
The yoga teacher training comprises of 180 contact hours and at least 30 non-contact hours by way of assignments and on-going self study. The contact hours are as follows:
The Weekend Modules will be: Friday 6-9pm, Saturday 11am-6pm and Sunday 8am-5pm.
The Week Immersion will be intensive – 7 full days starting from 6.30am until approximately, 10pm.
Where will the yoga teacher training be held?
The Weekend Modules will be held in Adelaide, South Australia at our beautiful studio, in West Lakes. The Week Immersion will be in Bali, Indonesia. More details to follow.
What happens next?
Once you have been accepted onto the yoga teacher training course, you will be sent a list with essential reading material and suggested reading material for the course. You will also be given your first assignment for the yoga training.
