Cosmic Yoga Studio are delighted to offer our yogis the opportunity to take their practice further with Teach Yoga Adelaide – 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Teach Yoga Adelaide 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training takes our students on a journey of self discovery within the framework of yoga, in all of its glorious manifestations. Students gain a deeper understanding of themselves and start to awaken a new level of consciousness and awareness. This can sometimes be challenging but the rewards are transformational and set the foundation for continued discovery.

This yoga teacher training is led by Stewart Heffernan who will share his wealth of knowledge, practice and experience in yoga, meditation, healing and personal development. Along with other experienced facilitators, Stewart is committed to supporting you through every step of this training to enable you to live more fully and to teach from a place that is embodied and feels authentic.

Learn how to confidently teach and practice Asana, Pranayama, Kriya, Chanting, Mantra and Meditation as well as modifications for injuries and posture adjustments or assists.


Learn how to give hands on assists. You will learn how to safely and confidently assist different bodies throughout a yoga asana practice, enabling you to become a confident and skilled teacher.

Techniques, Training and Practice AND Teaching Hands on Assists consist of 90 contact hours.


Explore the principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/adjusting, instruction, teaching styles, sequencing classes, the ethics and qualities of a teacher, the students process of learning and the business of setting up as a yoga teacher. You will learn a complete sequence suitable to teach in many environments from corporate classes, privates and gyms to hot studios and of course non – hot studios too.

Teaching Methodology consists of 40 Contact hours


Study functional, biomechanical and kinetic anatomy of applied movement to observe students in practice, and guide students in a meaningful, safe and effective way. Knowledge of basic human skeletal structure such as different  types of bones, joints, muscles and connective tissues and how they function optimally in postural practices; basics of human movement to understand transitions in and out of asanas. Also, delve into the energetic concepts of the Subtle Body such as Chakras and Nadis. Learn the practical application of the different systems of the body and look at the benefits and the contraindications of postures for injuries and different students, with options for modifications.

Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics consists of 30 Contact hours.


Review the History of Yoga including looking at classical texts: The Vedas, The Upanishads (including, The Bhagavad Gita), Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (including, The 8-limb path) and The Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Learn basic Sanskrit, yoga philosophies and an introduction to Ayurveda. Learn how to integrate these teachings into intelligent yoga classes.

History and Philosophy of Yoga consists of 15 Contact hours.


Learn the modern applications of a yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers.

Ethical Guidelines for a Yoga Teacher Consists of 5 Contact hours.


One day of the training will cover basic skills and develop awareness when working with clients in trauma recovery and using language that is thoughtful and inclusive.

This course requires 180 hours of contact time and 30+ hours of non-contact time.


What type of yoga will I learn to teach?
The practice of all physical yoga, comes under the banner of ‘Hatha’ Yoga. This training will enable you to skilfully teach Vinyasa Yoga, with influences from the Jivamukti Method.

What makes the Teach Yoga Adelaide Teacher Training so special?  

Our 200hr Teach Yoga Adelaide Teacher Training takes place in Adelaide over 9 seperate modules to allow for integration, study and practice time. We take pride in our inclusive, non-dogmatic and fun approach to study and yoga.

Our 200hr course will cover 27 days of gathering together as a group. You will also be required to attend at least 30 extra yoga classes, totalling 180 contact hours. You will complete a minimum of 30 non-contact hours by the way of assignments plus on-going self study.

What about accommodation, food and travel?  
The Weekend Modules will be non-catered – students are responsible for their own accommodation, food and travel to and from the Studio.

What are the hours of the training?

The training comprises of 180 contact hours and at least 30 non-contact hours by way of assignments and on-going self study. The contact hours are as follows:

The Weekend Modules will be: Friday 6-9pm, Saturday 11am-6pm and Sunday 8am-5pm.

Where will the training be held?
The Weekend Modules will be held in Adelaide, South Australia at the beautiful Cosmic Yoga Studio, in West Lakes.

What happens next?

Once you have been accepted onto the course, you will be sent a list with essential reading material and suggested reading material for the course. You will also be given your first assignment for the training.


Upon successful receipt of your online application, you will be required to pay a $300 deposit to secure your place on the training. The remainder of the total, will need to be paid prior to the course commencing.

Option 1

The 200-hr Teacher Training by itself, without a studio membership or classes (Total includes $300 deposit): $3,200

(This would be the option for anyone who is currently on a Direct Debit Membership and wishes to continue this throughout the training)

Option 2

The 200-hr Teacher Training, including a 30 class pass (Total includes $300 deposit): $3,500

Payments made in instalments will incur an additional $300 Administration Fee.
